All it says is that whoever gets the role will ‘be in charge of a wide range of designs related to characters and mecha’ (via Google Translate). Plus, the job description makes no mention of the Armored Core series. After all, it’s made other mech games unrelated to Armored Core before, such as Metal Wolf Chaos. It is always possible that FromSoftware is working on an entirely original project that also involves mechs. In fact, having experience in designing mechs is considered a requirement. More recently, a job listing for a character designer at FromSoftware was spotted on the studio’s website and it says that the role involves creating mech designs. Back in January, someone claimed to have seen gameplay of a new Armored Core via a consumer survey and uploaded some convincing looking screenshots. However, there has been speculation that the studio is returning to it with a brand new entry. Given it’s been nearly 10 years since the last Armored Core game, plus the success of the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring, you’d be forgiven for assuming studio FromSoftware had left its mech shooter series behind.
